Compassionate, evidence-based therapy for children, teens, and young adults ages 5–21. Serving Fredericksburg, Ashburn, and all of Virginia.
Therapy is not a promise of perfection — it is a commitment to progress. These services are designed to help improve your child’s outlook, build real skills, and create meaningful change over time.
"CARE isn't just what I do — it's how I help." Every session follows a proven framework built around connection, understanding, and real-world results.
Building a genuine, trusting relationship with your child is the foundation of everything. No progress happens without real connection — and connection is where we always begin.
Understanding your child's unique challenges, strengths, and goals through thoughtful, evidence-based evaluation — no assumptions, no one-size-fits-all approach.
Tailoring a personalized treatment plan using CBT, DBT, and other proven approaches that meet your child exactly where they are and adapt as they grow.
Building the real-world skills, confidence, and coping tools your child will carry with them long after therapy ends — because the goal is always lasting change.
Every session takes place in a warm, carefully designed environment where your child can fully relax, open up, and begin to create change. From the moment you walk in, you'll feel the difference.
Every service is tailored to your child's age, needs, and goals. We meet them where they are — in person in Fredericksburg & Ashburn, or via telehealth anywhere in Virginia.
Building emotional foundations early. We help younger children identify and express feelings, manage behavior, and build confidence in school and at home.
A judgment-free space for teenagers navigating anxiety, depression, identity, peer pressure, family conflict, and the emotional complexity of growing up.
The transition to adulthood brings unique pressures. We support young adults adjusting to college, work, independence, relationships, and life's bigger decisions.
When one family member struggles, everyone feels it. We help families improve communication, resolve conflict, and rebuild connection around the child's needs.
Secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions from the comfort of home. Available Monday and Wednesday afternoons for clients anywhere in Virginia.
Face-to-face therapy in our warm Fredericksburg or Ashburn offices. Available Monday, Wednesday, and select Saturdays for those who prefer in-person support.

Children and young people ages 5–21. We do not provide therapy to adults as primary clients — our practice is devoted entirely to youth and the families supporting them.
Jennifer primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), along with strength-based, person-centered, mindfulness-based, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), emotionally focused, and expressive arts approaches — always tailored to each child's unique needs.
Yes. We are in-network with Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, CareFirst, Cigna/Evernorth, and UnitedHealthcare. We also accept private pay starting at $150/session, HSA, and all major credit cards.
Yes — secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth is available Monday and Wednesday afternoons for clients anywhere in Virginia. In-person sessions are available in Fredericksburg and Ashburn on Monday, Wednesday, and select Saturdays.
Absolutely. Confidentiality is foundational to effective therapy. Your child's sessions are fully protected by HIPAA. The only exceptions are if there is a serious safety concern (risk of harm to self or others) or a legal requirement — these are explained fully at intake so everyone feels safe from day one.
You will receive general progress updates about your child's treatment direction and goals. However, the specific content of your child's sessions is kept confidential. This is intentional — children and teens open up more when they trust their therapist is a truly private, safe space.
Your child is always the client. When parents are involved in sessions, it is in direct support of the child's treatment — not as separate clients. When a child's services conclude, the therapeutic relationship ends for all parties. We are happy to provide referrals to trusted providers for any adults seeking personal therapy.
The free 15-minute call is an intake consultation — not a therapy session. It's a brief conversation where we review your completed intake form, answer your questions, verify your insurance, and determine together whether Goshen Counseling is the right fit. There is no cost and no obligation. Please complete the intake form above before your call.
Many families notice meaningful changes within the first month of consistent sessions. Every child is different — some progress quickly, others benefit from longer-term support. Jennifer reviews progress regularly and adjusts the plan as your child grows. The goal is always to help your child build the skills to thrive independently.
Help is closer than you think. Jennifer has spent over 20 years walking alongside children and families through their hardest moments. Let's talk about how we can help yours.
